Student Privacy
VectorStudy is built for students, so privacy needs to be plain, cautious, and practical.
Under 13 users
COPPA can apply to online services directed to children under 13 or services with actual knowledge that they collect personal information from children under 13.
VectorStudy's self-serve student account path is for users aged 13 and over unless a parent, guardian, or school-approved route is in place.
Children under 13 should not use self-serve checkout. If a parent, guardian, or school route is introduced later, it needs a separate consent and data-handling review.
Data minimization
We should collect only what is needed to provide study tools, progress tracking, safety, support, and billing where applicable.
Student progress data should be used to improve the learning experience, not sold or used for behavioral advertising.
School use
School deployments may require parent notices, district agreements, data processing terms, FERPA review, and local procurement checks.
VectorStudy should not onboard US school records until those requirements are reviewed for the specific school path.
Student controls and parent support
A VectorStudy account can contain answers, saved mistakes, flashcards, weak spot labels, study streaks, and support messages. That information should be used to provide study support, keep progress visible, and help the student return to the right topic. It should not be sold or used for behavioral advertising.
Parents, guardians, or school administrators who help a student use VectorStudy can contact support if they need help understanding the account route, age rules, privacy choices, or data deletion options. Requests may need account verification so we do not expose or alter student information for the wrong person.
Students should avoid putting unnecessary personal information into free text fields, support messages, or custom notes. Study tools work best when saved entries focus on the subject, topic, question, and mistake rather than private personal details.
